PNG Tuna Fishereis Promtes in Africa Minimize

PNG Promotes Fisheries in Africa during 1st  Ever African Tuna Conference  

Papua New Guinea National Fisheries Authority delegation attended 1st African Tuna Conference from the 25-26 September 2014.  PNG’s participation was basically to observe the Tuna Trade, management, conservation, marketing and trade relationship between the countries in Africa and other countries in Europe and America. Jacques Brulhet, CEO of 5Bexim said that for many years conferences like this has never emerged in Africa. Tuna related conferences were emerged only in Bangkok and Europe but this is a massive move by the government of Abijan decided to host this conference. 

The conference was addressing the specific issues of illegal fishing, fisheries management issues, the role of tuna development and also new opportunities in Africa.  NAtional Fishereis Authority's Executive Manager for Provincial Support and Industry Development Ms Welete Wararu presented a brief  of PNG and Pacific domestic market demand while Maurice Brownjohn, Commercial Manager of Parties to Nauru Agreement (PNA) presented Licensing and National Resources Management in the EEZ. Ms Wararu said that the demand of domestic market is so high in PNG thus increase the tuna investments in PNG.   

NFA has promoted its seafood and fisheries products in Africa which attracted alot of fish buyers, traders and government officials. Prime Minister  of Cote d'Ivoire Mr Daniel Kablan Duncan  visited NFA boot and thanked NFA for the partciaption in Africa.
