ABOUT NFA
LICENSING & INFORMATION

The Licensing and Information Group is responsible for processing
license applications and renewals, receiving and entering catch
and export data into relevant databases, providing information to
stakeholders and regional organisations and maintaining the NFA
central filing system and the library.
- Administering the licensing scheme and issuing approved licences
- Monitoring and ensuring the integrity and accuracy and completeness
of data received
- Entering data on vessel activities, catch and exports and providing
summarise data on exports, catch & harvesting, transhipment
and as required under access agreements, for fisheries management
and monitoring, control and surveillance purposes and to enable
NFA to effectively carry out its functions
- Managing the distribution of mail and faxes and maintain proper
registry of incoming and outgoing documents of Filetrak registry
- Providing central filing of shared and critical information
ensuring
strict, accurate and timely reporting of critical catch and export
data to NFA by licensed operators
- establishment of a central fisheries database and publication
of annual summaries within three months
- ensure that the recommendations made to the National Fisheries
Board are valid and concur with the current Fisheries Legislation
- streamlining the licensing process so that licences applications
are processed on a timely basis and approved licenses issued on
time
- ensuring that the licensing database is up to date and accurately
reflects all licenses issued
- responding to requests for information on licensing within
2 working days
- implementing and managing the central filing system for shared
and critical files to ensure security and ready access of important
information
- ensuring the control and efficient distribution of external
mail, faxes and internal mail
