Our client, the National Fisheries College (NFC), a division of
the National Fisheries Authority is based in Kavieng, New Ireland
Province.
The College has recently undergone major changes in its organizational
structure and in the courses and programs on offer and is developing
a staff team to focus on the professional delivery of quality courses
and programs in fisheries, seafood and marine resources. The college
has extensive facilities and resources to support the delivery of
high quality training, including a modern computerized environment,
excellent training and teaching resources, a well appointed training
vessel and a recently completed seafood processing and training
facility.
The college now seeks to appoint a qualified and experienced PNG
citizen to the position of Commercial Fishing Program Leader.
The position is responsible for the coordination and management
of all commercial fishing programs conducted by the National Fisheries
College and as a senior staff and management Committee member, assists
the College Principal with general operations and management of
the College to facilitate teamwork in delivery of programs and operations
and maintenance of all systems, together with extensive liaison
with major stakeholders in the Fishing Industry.
The person we seek for this leading role and very challenging role
must hold as a minimum, a Certificate of Competency as master Class
5 (or equivalent), at least 3 years experience as skipper of a commercial
fishing vessel and have demonstrated ability to manage vocational
training programs.
High levels of oral and written communications skills in English,
people skills, computer literacy and proven “hands on”
experience in competency based on training delivery and assessment
are essential requirements. Our client offers attractive pay and
